Our Driving trip to Kuantan & Terengganu

Trip Date: 8-12 June 2008

Day 1

We left for Kuantan on the 8 Jun @ 6.30am from JB home. We intended to have our breakfast at Mersing but the fishball noodle shop was not open. Toilet break at Esso Mersing. 

We proceed to Pekan and next toilet break at Pekan Shell.

We arrived at Kuantan Town at 11am and have our breakfast at Hoi Yin along Jln Teluk Cempedak. The curry chicken noodle is yummy. They are closed every alternate Monday.

After a heavy breakfast, we decided to take a walk along Teluk Cempedak beach. We check-in at Swiss Garden Resort & Spa at 1230pm. The picture of the family room, there are two rooms inside.

We drove to Kuantan Berjaya MegaMall and have out late lunch at Secret Recipe located at Jln Tun Ismail. We drove around Kuantan town to recee for other restoran but most on them are closed on Sunday.

Late dinner at 0830pm. Our dinner was at Beserah Seafood Restoran just a few km from our hotel.

Day 2

Second day, we decided to drive further North to Kemaman and Kijal after breakfast at the hotel.

Reached Cherating Turtle Sanctuary but it was closed on Monday .

Opening hours and Activities.

Upon reaching Chukai. We found the Restoran Tong Juan that sells stuffed crab. The place is quite pack during lunch time. Parking at Chukai is using coin operated machine. Just select the parking lot number and drop in the coin in the machine.

We drove further toward Kijal .We saw a roll of stalls along the road selling Lemang.

We bought one lemang @ Rm 2.00 for tasting. A picture of inside lemang.

We reached Kijal, we drove into a quite road next to Awana Kijal,  this place some sort of jetty facing he South China Sea .

We drove back to Chukai for tea break. We went to Hai Peng to have charcoal toasted bun and coffee. The coffee and bun were indeed very tokong. Much try when you are at Hai Peng.

We also have some snack and root beer float at Kemaman A&W.

Before heading back to hotel, we drove to Impiana Resort at Cherating to view the surrounding.

Dinner for the day Maggi Mee and Claypot rice from Lai Lai Restoran (Take-away).

Day 3

We drove to Sg Lembing, an old mining town. The tomato sauce noodle is very nice in this town. The noodle is made from the shop across the river.

Only petrol station in this town.

There is a museum to show the history of the town , admission is free. Very educational and detail information inside the museum.

Across the bridge is the noodle maker place.

Wanted to visit Lembing Waterfall but our vehicle could not get pass the rocky road. But my favourite is still the river crossing.

A bank that come to the town every fortnght.

On the way back, drop by Gua Charas, road leading to Gua Charas is full of  cowdung.

Drive back to Kuantan to visit the mini Zoo at Jln Teluk Cempedak

For dinner, we went to Alor Akar Seafood. Try the begger chicken and tofu. They are closed on Monday.

After dinner, we went to the famous Satay Zul (closed on Monday, open at 6pm).

Day 4

Before checking out, we spent some times at the pools and beach. After check out from the hotel, we sent the car for a wash at the shell station opposite the hotel. The tires and under the car got lot have cow shit. We went to Sin Kee Hung, a local speciality shop, to buy some snack home.

We went back to JB via Segamat and Yong Peng to experience this route. countless times of overtaking lorries along the way to Segamat. Still prefer the coastal road via Mersing.
